MAURO PINTO

Vive e trabalha em Maputo. Dos primeiros contactos com o fotógrafo português Alexandre Júnior, surgem as primeiras experiências no domínio da fotografia. No final dos anos 90, fez um curso de fotografia na Monitor Internacional School e, na mesma altura, um estágio com o fotógrafo José Machado. Em 2002 integrou, pela primeira vez, a Photofesta e, em 2006, participou na exposição ”Vers Matola”, no Espace 1789 Saint-Ouen, em Paris. Em 2009, integrou a exposição ”Maputo, a tale of one city“, no Oslo Museum, que, durante 12 meses, percorreu diferentes cidades da Noruega. No mesmo ano, iniciou o projecto “Karl Marx 1834”, com o escultor Gonçalo Mabunda e a advogada Tina Lorizzo. Em 2010, participou na 2.ª edição de El Ojo Salvaje, no Paraguai, sendo o primeiro artista africano a integrar a mostra. Em 2012, venceu o prémio BesPhoto.

Lives and works in Maputo. After the first encounters with the Portuguese photographer Alexandre Júnior, came the first experiences in the field of photography. In the late 90s, Mauro attended a photography course at the Monitor International School and, by the same time, he did an internship with the photographer José Machado. In 2002 he participated, for the first time, at Photofesta and, in 2006, participated at the “Vers Matola” exhibition at Espace 1789 Saint-Ouen, Paris. In 2009 his work was shown at the Oslo Museum, for the “Maputo, a tale of one city” exhibition, following a tour in several norwegian cities for a period of 12 months. Also in 2009, Mauro began his “Karl Marx 1834” project, in collaboration with sculptor Gonçalo Mabunda and lawyer Tina Lorizzo. In 2010 he was the first african artist to participate at the show El Ojo Salvaje, in Paraguay. In 2012, Mauro Pinto won the BesPhoto award.
